Angelo Reyes is dead. Allegedly he committed suicide in his mother's grave this morning.
My initial reaction was silence. No judgement. No ridicule.
Whether he was good or bad, he is dead.
I would rather not analyze the situation.
I will not rejoice in other people's misery.
Sympathy is justice, for the dead and the living.
For the dead because of his loved ones and friends.
For the living because many questions remain unanswered.
For to shame a man is to kill him.
Whether he deserves it or not.
Two consciences arise from this tragedy: The conscience of the shamed man and the people who shamed him. His alleged sins will not be washed away by his death but the cause and mode of his death will not wash away the guilt in other men's heart.
May he rest in peace.
